Psychiatric Care Attention in patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). A social challenge

Over a year ago, on April 1 at 18.30, Pablo's body disappeared forever because of our inability to not be able to help him.

The April 2 is World Autism Day. The rescue team failed to get him back alive. It seems he chose the date to leave his legacy to society.

It was three years ago when I made the most of a forum psychiatry exposing shortcomings in autism care and claim support for Pablo, my son. Now, three years later, I want to show what was demanded, which was alleged and what has been achieved.

I do not intend to give a simplistic view of Pablo's serious condition, nor, still less, to blame anyone for the tragedy but, yes, I think we need to rethink major changes to identify the conditions of these people and improve their quality of life.

The video above shows a testimony that should invite reflection and facilitate future research and struggle. They're 13 minutes which aim to cause the urge to move on. On behalf of Pablo, and those like him, we must do it together.

Pablo's helmets serve as a symbol to remind us that all people must be respected and have secured adaptation to its peculiarities, including sensory disturbances.
